Look beyond Shipment Visibility with Logistics ERP Software
In the early 90’s shippers, carriers and 3PL providers were having a very common question i.e. “Where’s my shipment or truck? “ It was quite difficult to answer this question but as time moved ahead the concept of shipment tracking systems emerged. Tracking systems grew rapidly because they allowed small and medium scale logistics companies to integrate high-tech and customized tracking tools to track their shipments at affordable price range that were once only used by a large and IT-Savvy logistics enterprises.
Logistics Optimization
The shipping volume or supply chain capacity of small and medium scale companies are not as complex as fortune 500 enterprises, but this does not conclude that their logistics needs are simpler. At a medium-scale enterprise, an operations executive might look after hundreds of shipment in a month along with multiple warehouse activities and additional responsibilities beyond managing his supply chain. Keeping track of shipment status along with all the other tasks is extremely difficult without help of a sophisticated visibility tool and a comprehensive logistics ERP.
Today, with logistics ERP software, most successful logistics companies are moving beyond simply tracking of shipments. It helps in integrating all the functions and branches of the organization into single platform. DB Schenker Logistics to expand its land transport network in the UK -
Early 2016 the transportation and logistics services provider of the Deutsche Bahn AG acquires 75 percent of Redhead Holdings Ltd. (Essen/Berlin, December 11, 2015) As part of the continual development of its land network, DB Schenker Logistics will combine its road-activities in the UK in a joint venture with UK logistics company Redhead International.

DB SCHENKER opens its second largest warehouse in India
Schenker India, part of DB Schenker, the transport and logistics division of Deutsche Bahn AG, has announced the opening of its biggest warehouse in India at Bhiwandi near Mumbai in western region. The 172,841 sqft (approx. 16,000 sqm) facility begins the operation with a staff of around 60 people by providing state-of-the-art warehousing operations for palletised and non-palletised cargo to the city and nearby areas.
